Kurukshetra witnessed a historic gathering as yoga guru Ramdev led a global Gita recitation at its Keshav Park. He called the event more than just a reading by 21,000 children.

Speaking to the crowd, Swami Ramdev emphasised the relevance of the Bhagavad Gita. There he urged everyone especially young students to make Gita a guide for life.

“Today’s children are the foundation of a developed India,” he said. “Every child should connect with Gita and yoga to keep both mind and body healthy. We must set examples in education, health, character, knowledge, and science.”

Later, during interactions with the media, the yoga guru highlighted the personal example set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Naib Saini, saying that both leaders live by the teachings of the Gita. He explained that the triple path of Gita; knowledge yoga, devotion yoga, and action yoga should guide India toward growth.

“Gita makes us fearless and strong, mentally, physically, and spiritually. It gives us the courage to achieve our goals,” he added.

The event also saw addresses from notable figures such as former state minister Subhash Sudha, who applauded the initiative. Sudha described programs like the global Gita recitation as historic moments for students, giving them the chance to learn and internalize the teachings of this sacred text. He emphasised that embracing Gita’s guidance in daily life can help India achieve the vision of a fully developed nation by 2047, the centenary of independence.

Adding to the celebration, Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Somanath Sachdeva noted that the International Gita Festival 2025 created a divine atmosphere that reached far beyond the city. “Through this platform, millions across the globe have connected with the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita,” he said.
