Amid raging protest against the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Padmaavat, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia saw the movie with a few other Rajput leaders and said that the movie doesn’t show anything objectionable.

“I took many of them (Rajput leaders) to the theatre. Saw the movie. Forget about me, people opposing it … they said there was nothing in this movie,” the Aam Aadmi Party leader told reporters.

The film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh was released on 25 January but theatre owners in states like Haryana and Gujarat didn’t screen the film. Fringe group like the Karni Sena and a few others are opposing the film saying that the facts shown in the film are not accurate and that the movie hurts Rajput sentiments.

Protests in several parts of the country turned violent as vehicles were set ablaze and some highways were also blocked. According to reports, a train was stopped in Uttar Pradesh this week and the Delhi-Jaipur highway along with some other roads was blocked.

Earlier this week, a school bus was attacked in Gurugram allegedly by the supporters of Shri Rajput Karni Sena. The Karni Sena has denied its role if the attack and claimed that Bhansali team was behind the attack.
