Home Minister Rajnath Singh took a jibe at the Congress and other opposition parties during a party rally in Hyderabad on Saturday but used the #MeToo campaign as a tool to fire a political statement.

Addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Vijay Lakshya 2019 in poll-bound Telangana, the Home Minister mocked anti-BJP parties over the talks of a formation of a grand alliance questioning their agenda.

“Today the situation is such that all political parties are afraid of BJP’s strides. So everyone wants to fight the BJP together. I want to say ‘we have no objection, form as big an alliance you can’,” said Singh amid loud cheers from party workers and supporters.

“But they have no agenda for the welfare of nation. They have only one agenda: Stop Modi,” Singh said.

It was then that Singh used the #MeToo campaign to take a jibe at the opposition parties who intend to join hands with the Congress ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

“I want to remind all opposition parties. No one on earth can save the party which aligns with the Congress from extinction. Those who allied with Congress before have later lamented,” Singh said.

Baad mein kahin aise haalat na ho jaayein, saari vipakshi partiyan aapas me gathbandhan kar lein aur fir bad mein jab Congress se wo dhoka kha jaayein, to me #MeToo campaign chalane ke liye majboor ho jaayein (Hope a situation does not arise when the united opposition is forced to run a #MeToo campaign after being dumped by the Congress),” the Home Minister said referring to the empowering campaign through which many women have exposed big names from the world of politics to entertainment as alleged sexual harassers.

Interestingly, the Home Minister is the head of the committee of ministers tasked to draw a comprehensive plan to prevent sexual harassment at workplace.

At the event, the Home Minister called upon Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha workers to act as socio-political crusaders to transform India into a world leader.
