The two day meeting of the State executive committee of Bhartiya Janata Party was inaugurated on Saturday by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who set a target of winning more seats in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019.

In his address to the party workers, Singh asserted that the “expressway” of forming the government in the parliament election of 2019 will start from UP. He said that a target of 350 seats has been set for this election, which is achievable.

“There is need to fight the election after taking the pledge,” said Singh adding that this time BJP would perform better in UP and win more than 73 Lok Sabha seats, which it won with ally Apna Dal in 2014.

Singh was in Meerut to inaugurate the two-day state executive committee meeting of BJP on Saturday. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, State BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey, senior party leaders like Union Minister Kalraj Mishra and Vinay Katiyar were also present.

While addressing the party workers and leaders, Singh said that the BJP is different from other parties as it is a purely political party.

“The word ‘Rajniti’ (politics) has lost its meaning now. The purpose of our ‘Rajniti’ is not to grab power but to build the country,” he said.

He said that his party would not let the society of India to break down at any cost.

“There is a need for social harmony to bring the society together. BJP would not break the society to come to power. The purpose of our politics is to build the country,” stated Singh.

Mentioning the work of the Union government, the home minister claimed that the honour of the country has been on a high in the rule of PM Modi which is not acceptable to the Congress and other political parties.

“Where else would a PM take a broom in his hands and sweep the roads to give a message of cleanliness to the people?” he asked.

Slamming Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Singh asked how a party whose chief does not know about the limitations of Parliament can expect to rule the country.

“As soon as we came in power, the PM said that this government is dedicated to the poor of the country and the government has worked in the direction. By the year 2022 there would be no poor in the country,” he asserted.

The Home Minister also claimed that terrorism has been brought under control under the BJP rule.

Through his address, Singh also spoke about the achievements of the Modi government at the Centre. He also appreciated the working of UP CM Yogi Adityanath and gave him full marks for creating a conducive environment in the state by infusing fear in the hearts of criminals.

Earlier in his address, CM Adityanath briefed the gathering about the achievements of the state government. He said that the state got an investment of Rs 60 crores by 31 July which was a major achievement in UP.

“For investment, good governance and security were requisites,” he said claiming that the government has managed to control anarchy in the state which has encouraged investment.

“We also took a pledge to end political disparity in the state on Ambedkar Jayanti and ensured that electricity should be supplied to people across the state without any disparity as done in the past governments rule,” said the CM adding that now 24-hour power supply is ensured at district headquarters across the state .

He counted the achievements of his government such as repair of 1 lakh roads, distribution of free gas connections, houses to poor, and waving off loans of farmers.

“While only 67,000 houses were sanctioned under PM Avas Yojna in three years before our rule, we sanctioned 8 lakh 85 thousand houses in rural areas and more than 4 lakh in urban areas in just one year. Also 1 crore 22 lakh toilets have been made by us while just 10 lakh toilets were completed by the predecessor,” said the CM adding that his government has distributed free 50 lakh power connection to poor and 90 lakh gas connections under Ujwala Yojna.

He said that his government also waived off loans of 86 lakh farmers of the state and streamlined the payments of sugarcane farmers.

“The development projects have been turned to reality and this has been made possible with a positive attitude,” said Adityanath.

He also said that the BJP governments have been accused of being anti-Dalit.

“If this is so then why so far no government could become the voice of Dalits?” he said asking why there is no reservation in Aligarh Muslim University.

The state executive committee meeting would conclude on Sunday. National president Amit Shah would be addressing party workers on the concluding day.
