Police in Rajasthan’s Baran on Thursday, April 30, took out a procession featuring the two main accused in the kidnapping and ransom case involving a glass merchant in the city.
Under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Chaudhary, the accused — identified as Shahrukh and Rahil — had their heads shaved and were paraded barefoot across the city.
During this process, the police even took both the accused to the crime scene to verify the details of the incident.
They were asked to re-enact the entire sequence of the kidnapping. This was done to gather crucial evidence for the investigation. A large police contingent remained deployed throughout the procession.
According to a senior police official, the accused had earlier kidnapped a local glass merchant in the area and extorted a ransom of approximately ₹14 lakh from him. Following the incident, the police took swift action and arrested the accused.
During the procession, considerable enthusiasm was observed among the general public regarding the police’s action. People expressed their outrage against the accused and voiced their support for the police’s strict measures.
Police officials stated that the objective of such actions is to instill fear among criminals and to reinforce the sense of security among the general public.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and the police are also examining the potential involvement of other individuals in the crime.
