Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer V Srinivas is set to take over as the new Chief Secretary of Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan cadre 1989 batch IAS officer was on deputation in Delhi to the post of Secretary in the Department for Administrative Reforms, Public Grievances, and the Department of Pensions and Pensioners Welfare. He has been relieved by the Centre from the present post on Friday evening, on request from the Rajasthan government.
The state government has written to the Ministry for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions seeking Srinivas’s services in Jaipur for the post of Chief Secretary.
His order of posting as Chief Secretary is likely to be issued by Monday morning, as he is scheduled to take charge of the new assigned post on November 17.
Srinivas replaces Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, who has been sent back on deputation to the Centre to the post of the Secretary.
In a sudden move on Monday earlier this week, Pant was called back to Delhi by the Centre for serving on deputation as the Secretary in the Ministry for Social Justice and Empowerment.
This assigned post will fall vacant on the retirement of incumbent officer Amit Yadav on November 30, 2025. Until the date, Pant will work as an officer on the special duty (OSD) in the Cabinet Secretariat.
Notably, two years back, Pant was sent back to the state by the Centre to serve as the chief secretary under the newly installed Bhajan Lal Sharma-led BJP government in December 2023. In December 2023, he was serving as the Secretary in the Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.
Pant is due to retire from the service in February 2027.
