The Rajasthan High Court has denied a further extension of interim bail to Asaram Bapu in the infamous case of raping a minor girl.
A division bench comprising Justices Dinesh Mehta and Vineet Kumar Mathur on Wednesday refused to grant the extension after examining the report issued by the medical board of Ahmedabad Hospital.
Earlier, on pleas for bail, the bench had extended Asaram’s interim bail until August 29 and directed the hospital to constitute a three-member medical board, comprising two cardiologists and a neurologist, to examine him and submit a status report to the court.
As per the court’s order, Asaram must surrender in jail by August 30.
Asaram, convicted for raping a minor inmate of his ashram, was granted interim bail for three months for medical treatment in the third week of January this year. The bail period was later extended twice.
