Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has sought cooperation from the ACB sleuths and the common man in fulfilling the government’s commitment of zero tolerance toward corruption.
Addressing an audience at a function held here on Tuesday to mark the 68th anniversary of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Sharma said, “Despite a determined preventive drive, corruption has expanded to undesirable dimensions.
An act or the incidence of corruption occurs at the cost of the interests of some innocent person which is not acceptable, as defending hapless victims and sufferers becomes the state’s foremost duty.
The most important aspect here is keeping intact the faith and trust of every citizen who places his or her faith in the government and its system. This makes the crusade against corruption a fight of everyone, the chief minister contended.
While the sleuths of the ACB are duty bound to trap and bring to book the perpetrators and hunt for the corrupt, the common man should act as an informer for the ACB or police and as a reformer to the kin and family, when it comes to any wrongdoing.
The ACB has launched a special telephonic channel for common man for giving tip offs on corruption to the bureau. “Trust them and the government, they are supposed to protect your identity and they would never let you down for your trust in them”, he assured.
Chief Minister Sharma said there was one more way, one more role for every one to uproot the evil tendency(corruption) at the family level by inculcating values of honesty in children and kill the tendency before it is nurtured. Moreover, reject and denounce outrightly any act of corruption committed by your kin, relative or family member”.
Sharma turned a little bit philosophical while elaborating on this point, saying, “Remember by turning tough to your wrongdoing kin, you would favour him/her. Otherwise, he or she can not escape the fallout of sins he or she had committed. The evil effect would return to them and family sooner or later”.
“We would not spare any corrupt/wrongdoer, even if he or she escaped our catch, the sinner would not be overlooked by the divine watchers, he would never be comfortable or happy in his life, his/her 2 – 3 generations might be spoiled of ill-effects of wrong doings.”
Addressing Bureau officials, he said, “You are not posted in the ACB accidentally, you were destined to do this good work of eradicating the evil of corruption. So, act appropriately, take action against bribe takers as well as bribe giver, bring them to the book, protect due rights of victims/sufferers and the identity and interests of informers.
“Live up to faith and trust of victims and the confidence of your informers,” CM Sharma exhorted the ACB sleuths assuring them of all support from the government.
“You all perform the task of keeping the state government’s promise of zero tolerance for corruption and leave the task of solving your problems and catering to your needs, for me,” he said.
“I shall address all your issues and cater to all needs, be it about the equipment, funds or the man power,” the chief minister assured.
The government has already made several grants to the ACB/police fleets, including a floating special fund of Rs 200 crore for police modernization and infrastructure development.
Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant has also rounded off efforts made in the government by way of switching over to e-filing and reforms in the procedure of files handling.
