The Rajasthan Assembly will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of its inception with a year-long ‘Amrit Mahotsav’, to be organised on a grand scale, with plans to invite President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace the celebrations.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Rajasthan chapter of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Speaker Vasudev Devnani to discuss the agenda and various organisational aspects of the Jubilee programmes.

The Amrit Mahotsav, dedicated to the legislature, its traditions, and democratic practices, aims to bridge the institution’s history, present, and future democratic role. Multiple sessions will be organised in which eminent personalities from various fields will deliberate on topical issues concerning the legislature, executive, and political system, Devnani said.

At least four national-level conventions will be organised as part of the celebrations between July 2026 and the Rajasthan Day Mahotsav, scheduled for March 2027. Devnani said the inaugural convention, to be held in July 2026, will be attended by all sitting and former MLAs from the first Rajasthan Assembly constituted in 1952 to the present 16th Assembly.

The second mega event, proposed for October 2026, will be dedicated to women legislators from across the country. Similarly, the third programme, scheduled for January 2027, will focus on enhancing the participation and role of youth in democratic and constitutional dialogue. A mock Yuva Sansad will also be organised as part of the youth convention.

The fourth convention will be a grand All India Legislative Summit (‘Akhil Bharatiya Vidhayi Mahakumbh’) during the Rajasthan Day Mahotsav in 2027, the Speaker said.

“We plan to invite President Murmu, Vice President Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and several other dignitaries. The detailed schedule of the programmes and the list of invitees are being prepared,” Devnani added.

Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Joga Ram Patel, and office-bearers of the Rajasthan chapter of the CPA attended the meeting.
