The Rajasthan Assembly on Friday passed a Rs 6,10956-crore state budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 amid announcements for some more reliefs and grants by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, in her capacity as the finance minister, presented the budget in the House on February 11 earlier this month. Since then, general debate and multi-round discussions on departmental budget demands have been going on. This process concluded late last night with the House passing budget demand amounting to Rs 12,900.53 crore for the Panchayati Raj Department and demands of Rs 9818.41 crore by voice votes.

Finally, the House also passed the demands of all those departments that did not figure in debates on grants in the House, without debate by applying the guillotine rule. However, this final leg of the state budget passage was marred by the boycott of the proceedings by the Opposition Congress.

On Friday, the House took up for debate and passage of the Rajasthan Appropriation (No : 2) Bill 2026 for empowering the state government to draw money for funding the budget from the State’s Consolidated Fund and the Rajasthan Finance Bill 2026 for incorporating the law related provisions of the budget in the respective taxation and revenue laws.

Replying to the debate on the twin Bills, Chief Minister Sharma asserted that the government’s policies have set in desired growth in state’s economy and said, “I assure this House that our progressive state will proudly march on path of development achieving all goals set by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Viksit Bharat 2047.”

We have formulated and implemented as many as 34 policies to provide wings to our economy, reduced budgetary fiscal and revenue deficits. We have enhanced per capita income of the state to Rs 2.02 lakh per annum from Rs 1.67 lakh per annum.

Among more reliefs and grants, the Chief Minister announced Rs 500 crore for missing road links, budgetary grant of Rs 1,300 for works on next phase of Jaipur metro rail, Rs 2000 School Infrastructure Fund, and grant to the Rajasthan Roadways for purchase of 300 new buses.

He also announced setting up of the world class Atal Bihari Vajpayee Advanced Skilling Center in Jaipur with investment of Rs 450 crore.

The CM announced rechristening of the lone hill station of the state – Mount Abu as Aburaj, Jahazpur in Bhilwara as Yagyapur and Kaman (Bharatpur) as Kamvan.

After Chief Minister Sharma’s two-and-half-an-hours-long reply, the House passed the Appropriation Bill and the Finance Bill by voice votes late this evening, marking the approval of the House to the budget.

Then Speaker Vasudev Devnani adjourned the House until March 5.
