Rahul to address series of rallies, roadshows in poll-bound Karnataka

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi will hold mega roadshows and public rallies in different parts of Karnataka during his four-day visit to the poll-bound state, party leaders said on Friday.

According to the party, the Gandhi scion will begin his first two-day visit to Mangalore and Udupi on March 20 and 21 followed by another visit to Mysore and Mandya on March 24 and 25.

As part of the ‘Janashirwad Yatre’, Rahul will attend a Seva Dal programme in Udupi followed by a road show in Kaup.

After a meeting in Padubidri, he will hold roadshows in Mulki, Surathkal and Mangaluru followed by a mega rally at Nehru Maidan.

Rahul Gandhi will be accompanied by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara, AICC secretary in charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal, MPs Mallikarjuna Kharge and Veerappa Moily among others.

On March 21, Rahul will pray at Sringeri temple and take out a roadshow in Sringeri followed by a public rally will in Chikkamagaluru.

Karnataka is likely to go to polls in April. Both Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) are fighting a bitter battle and claiming that they will come back to power.

There are total 224 constituencies in the Karnataka assembly and party needs 113 seats for a simple majority in the Karnataka assembly.
