Mocking the BJP for releasing their Gujarat manifesto one day before the first phase of polls, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi if his speeches were enough to govern the state.

The Gandhi scion also attacked Modi for not answering any of the 10 questions that he had put up daily ahead of the Gujarat polls and wondered why the issue of development didn’t find any space in his poll speeches.

“The BJP has been ruling Gujarat for the last 22 years. I just want to ask why there’s no mention of development in PM Modi’s speeches? Why hasn’t he answered any of my 10 questions on development in Gujarat? Why wasn’t the Gujarat manifesto released till campaigning ended for the first phase?” Rahul tweeted in Hindi.

“Are you going to govern the state with speeches?” asked Rahul.

The BJP on Friday released its ‘Resolution Letter’ with promises for the Gujarat voters, a day before polling in the assembly elections’ first phase after opposition leaders especially Patidar leader Hardik Patel questioning the delay.

Of the 89 seats, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party holds 67 and the Congress 16. One seat each is held by the NCP and JD-U while independents hold the remaining two.

Polling, which began at 8 am, will end at 5 pm. There are a total of 24,689 polling booths.
