Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting a brief stoppage for the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express at the Rae Bareli junction.
In his letter, Gandhi noted that while the train traverses through Rae Bareli, passengers from his constituency have long been requesting a halt at the station to make their travel easy, especially towards the national capital.
He requested the railway minister to take into account the demand for halts of train numbers 20503/20504 and 20505/20506 at Rae Bareli junction.
“The people of my parliamentary constituency have repeatedly requested a brief halt, particularly to facilitate travel to New Delhi,” Gandhi wrote in the letter dated September 3.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare a Special Relief Package for states facing destruction amid torrential rainfall.
Congress leader Gandhi shared a post on X, stating the flood situation in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh is “extremely worrying”.
Seeking help from the Central government, Gandhi said, “In such difficult times, your (PM Modi) attention and the active help of the central government are extremely necessary. Thousands of families are struggling to save their homes, lives, and loved ones.”
“I urge that an immediate announcement be made for a special relief package (Special Relief Package) for these states, especially for the farmers – and that relief and rescue operations be expedited,” Gandhi further said in X post.
