Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday criticized the “Make in India” initiative, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is actually running a “‘Reliance on China’ plan” under its guise.
Taking to platform X, Gandhi emphasized that India remains heavily dependent on China for manufacturing components, which hampers India’s competitiveness and leads to losses in employment, trade, and the economy.
“I’m speaking from what I’ve seen firsthand. Under the guise of ‘Make in India’, Modi ji is actually running a ‘Reliance on China’ scheme!” he posted in Hindi.
He further said, “China manufactures the components, our youth assemble them, the Prime Minister’s friends make the profits, and India bears the loss — of jobs, trade, and the economy.”
Calling for a change, Gandhi stressed the need to “end monopolies and begin real manufacturing” to compete with China.
Rahul Gandhi has consistently voiced concerns over India’s trade dependency on countries like China.
He advocates for genuine self-reliance in manufacturing as a way to strengthen the nation’s economy and generate employment.
