Reports suggest Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is leaving for a foreign tour. As per media reports, Rahul Gandhi is going to Germany to participate in an Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) event on 17 December. During the visit, Gandhi is scheduled to meet several IOC leaders from across Europe.
The news of his foreign visit has drawn huge criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with the same happening in the midst of Parliament’s Winter Session. The party has raised questions and mocked Rahul Gandhi for leaving the country in the middle of crucial ongoing business in Parliament.
BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said, “Once again Videsh Nayak is doing what he does best! Going for a foreign tour! Parliament is on till 19th Dec but reports suggest Rahul Gandhi to visit Germany from Dec 15-20! Rahul is LoP – leader of Paryatan. During Bihar elections too, he was abroad and then in Jungle Safari.”
BJP highlighted that the Congress leader remains absent and flies abroad during crucial political events. He was on a foreign trip during the Bihar elections as well. “During the Bihar elections too, he was abroad and then in a Jungle Safari,” Poonawalla said in a post on X.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also mocked Rahul Gandhi for his upcoming Germany visit and called him a part-time political leader. He said, “Rahul Gandhi always spends most of his time abroad whenever Parliament is in session and later says that he doesn’t get a chance to speak. Even during the Bihar elections, he was abroad. He is part-time, not a serious political leader…”
Responding to the BJP criticisim, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “Modi ji spends almost half of his working time outside the country. Why are they raising questions on the Leader of the Opposition’s visit?”

The reports of his Germany visit surfaced online after the Indian Overseas Congress announced that Rahul Gandhi will be addressing the Indian diaspora in Berlin on 17 December. IOC Chairman Sam Pitroda is also expected to be present at the event.
