Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday paid tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, on his martyrdom day. In a post on handle X, Gandhi remembered Guru Teg Bahadur’s ideals, values, sacrifice, and martyrdom, calling him ‘Hind Ki Chadar.’
“On the martyrdom day of the ninth Guru of Sikhism, ‘Hind Ki Chadar’ Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, I pay my humble respects to him. His ideals, values, sacrifice, and martyrdom will forever remain a source of inspiration for humanity,” Gandhi said.
Guru Teg Bahadur was martyred on November 24, 1675, for standing up for the rights of Kashmiri Pandits and refusing to convert to Islam. He is revered as a champion of human rights and a symbol of courage and sacrifice.
