Congress president Rahul Gandhi is out of the country again, this time along with mother Sonia Gandhi who has to undergo a medical check-up.  Rahul took to Twitter to share his travel plan before heading out, and also left a message for “BJP social media troll army”.

In his tweet, Gandhi said he would be away from India for a few days. Without disclosing the destination, the Congress leader said he would be accompanying his mother for her “annual medical check-up”.

He added: “To my friends in the BJP social media troll army: don’t get too worked up…I’ll be back soon!”

Rahul Gandhi has faced a lot of criticism and been trolled in the past for staying away from India at crucial times.

According to a PTI report, Rahul will return within a week, but Sonia is expected to stay back for a longer period. Sonia had undergone a surgery in the US in 2011.

With their leader travelling, the party has put on hold a few key decisions, including the allocation of ministerial portfolios in Karnataka where a Congress-JD(S) government led by HD Kumaraswamy was formed last week. Rahul Gandhi held deliberations with party leaders on Saturday and Sunday to decide on the portfolios, but the discussions remained inconclusive.

Some fresh appointments in the Congress are also awaited.

According to sources said Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a rally at Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh on June 6 to mark the first anniversary of police firing on farmers there.
