Punjab’s Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government is actively working to address the long-standing constitutional demands and issues of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Backward Classes (BCs) employees and communities.
He gave this assurance during a productive meeting with the Joint Action Committee, which represents 27 SCs and BCs employees and social organizations from across Punjab.
The meeting, held at Punjab Bhawan, focused on a range of crucial issues affecting these communities, including demands related to government employees, social justice, and constitutional rights.
The Finance Minister discussed in detail the issues raised by the joint action committee and issued directions to the officers concerned to resolve these issues at the earliest.
Emphasizing that the AAP led Punjab Government has already made significant progress in resolving many of these matters and is committed to tackling the remaining issues with the utmost urgency, Finance Minister Cheema said, “Our government is dedicated to ensuring social justice and equality for all citizens of Punjab.”
“We recognize the constitutional significance of the demands raised during the meeting and are taking concrete steps to resolve these,” he added.
He said that this meeting with the Joint Action Committee was an important step in the ongoing dialogue to find effective and timely solutions.
The Joint Action Committee expressed its appreciation for the Punjab Government’s willingness to engage in direct talks and its commitment to resolving the issues. Both sides agreed to continue their collaboration to ensure that all pending matters are addressed swiftly and effectively.
