The district administration and police on Wednesday demolished several properties estimated to be worth Rs 50-100 crore, allegedly built on encroached land in Bhopal by the recently arrested drug mafias Yaseen Ahmad (25) alias Machli and his uncle Shahwar Ahmad (42), also known as Machli — the nephew and brother, respectively, of BJP leader and renowned fish merchant of Bhopal, Shareef Ahmad, alias Machli.

Teams from the district administration, accompanied by a heavy police presence and nearly 15 JCB machines, arrived at the site located on the Anantpura-Kokta bypass. They demolished several structures, including a farmhouse, factory, warehouse, madrasa, marriage lawn, and some other buildings, reportedly built on encroached land by the two accused and their family members.

The Crime Branch of the Bhopal Police arrested Yaseen and Shahwar a few days ago for operating a drug peddling gang involved in the sale of MD drugs. During the investigation, the police also uncovered their links to illegal arms dealing and arrested Yaseen’s close associate, Jagdish Singh Bais alias Jaggi. An illegal pistol was also seized.

The police also found their links to alleged love jihad after finding incriminating photos and videos of some girls on Yaseen’s mobile phone.

Shareef Ahmad is a member of the MP BJP’s Minority Cell. Yaseen, Shahwar, and Jaggi are currently in jail.
