Private security guards brutally assault youths at Namo Ghat in Kashi, one dead, 2 injured; four arrested

A tourist visiting the religious and spiritual city of Kashi died after being beaten by private security guards at Namo Ghat on Sunday morning, police said.

The incident occurred when five young men from Sonbhadra arrived at the Namo Ghat. A heated exchange of words ensued after private security guards and bouncers stopped them near Gate No. 2.

The dispute quickly escalated into a physical altercation in which three of the youths sustained injuries. Upon receiving information about the clash from locals, a police team rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to the hospital, where Rajendra, alias Chintu, was declared dead.

Assistant Police Commissioner, Kotwali, Vijay Kumar Singh, said the five youths arrived at Namo Ghat on Sunday morning and entered into an argument with private security guards. The dispute soon escalated into a physical altercation near the barricaded Gate No. 2.

Chintu Jaiswal suffered serious injuries and collapsed on the spot. Police immediately rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, the officer added.

The ACP said, “All four guards involved in the incident have been arrested. Legal proceedings will be initiated upon receiving written statements from the family members. The remaining individuals are being identified through CCTV footage, and strict action will be taken once their identities are established.”
