President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation on the eve of the 79th Independence Day on Thursday.
According to a press communique from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the address will be broadcast at 7 pm across the entire national network of Akashvani and telecast on all Doordarshan channels, first in Hindi, and then in English.
The broadcast of the President’s address in Hindi and English on Doordarshan will be followed by broadcasts in regional languages by Doordarshan’s regional channels. Akashvani will air the address in regional languages at 9.30 pm on its respective regional networks.
The nation will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on August 15, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the celebrations from the iconic Red Fort in Delhi.
The Prime Minister will unfurl the national flag and address the nation from the ramparts of the iconic monument.
Security arrangements have been intensified in the national capital, with traffic restrictions in place around key areas, including India Gate, Mandi House, and Mathura Road. Vehicles without parking labels have been advised to avoid these stretches.
