The Ministry of Home Affairs today issued a notification announcing the revocation of the President’s Rule from Manipur with immediate effect from the 4th day of February, 2026.
The notification by the Ministry included the Proclamation signed by the President of India, wherein Droupadi Murmu ordered to lift the President’s Rule in the state, exercising the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 356 of the Constitution.
The earlier proclamation was issued last year on 13 February, after President Murmu imposed President’s Rule in Manipur, considering a breakdown of constitutional governance in the state.
President of the BJP Mahila Morcha, Loteeka Leima has welcomed the revocation, saying, “This is a very happy and important day for us… There is an atmosphere of great joy at the party. We have a lot of work to do. We need to bring peace to Manipur and work for development and peace in every corner of the state. Previously, when there was President’s Rule, they were also doing good work… The democratic process, where the people of Manipur voted for the government they wanted, was temporarily halted due to problems in our state, considering the law and order situation. But now we are very happy that our government is back…”
