Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vijay Ghat on Tuesday to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 114th birth anniversary.
The Prime Minister also visited the Raj Ghat earlier to pay tributes to Mahatama Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.
In a tweet, PM Modi said former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri “epitomised strength and simplicity.”

Former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri was born in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on October 2, 1904. He breathed his last on January 11, 1966 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan due to cardiac arrest.
Lal Bahadur Shastri was the first person who was posthumously awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1966.
