President Droupadi Murmu, who arrived in Vrindavan, Mathura, on Thursday morning by the Maharaja Express, visited the Thakur Banke Bihari Temple and then proceeded to Nidhivan to pay obeisance to the trees there.
Security has been tightened in view of the visit, and the local police are fully prepared and vigilant.
President Murmu departed from Delhi at 8 am today and arrived at Vrindavan Road Railway Station at 10 a.m. Twelve of the train’s 18 coaches were reserved for the President and her staff. These include the Presidential Suite, Deluxe Suite, Restaurant, Lounge, and Power Car.
In view of the President’s visit, the administration has appealed that shops on restricted routes remain closed across the city from Noon to 6 pm. Schools and colleges up to grade 12 have also been closed for the day.
President Murmu will spend seven hours in Mathura-Vrindavan. During the duration, she will visit several religious sites.
Murmu is the second president of the country to visit the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Previously, former president Late Giani Zail Singh had visited the religious place.
