As the Congress Party intensifies its nationwide campaign against alleged voter fraud, the historic Anand Bhavan in Prayagraj, once the epicenter of India’s freedom struggle, is poised to become the launchpad for the party’s next major political movement.
After spearheading protests in Bihar, the Congress is now setting its sights on Uttar Pradesh.
Senior local leaders have invited party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to visit Prayagraj and lead the campaign from the symbolic grounds of Anand Bhavan.
Sources within the party indicate that the next phase of the movement will begin in UP, especially as the state gears up for crucial panchayat elections followed by the 2027 Assembly polls.
Pramod Tiwari, Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and a member of the Congress Working Committee, emphasized the national significance of the issue.
“Voter fraud is not just a state issue; it’s a national crisis. While we are currently focused on Bihar, no major movement can ignore Prayagraj’s role,” he said. He also hinted that the party’s roadmap for Uttar Pradesh will become clearer once the Bihar elections conclude.
Congress state general secretary Mukund Tiwari echoed the sentiment, highlighting that Rahul Gandhi has already raised several UP-specific issues in recent times. “The people want him in Prayagraj. His presence will energize the movement. Anand Bhavan is once again set to witness the winds of change,” he added.
Adding a personal touch to the build-up, Congress Prayagraj spokesperson Haseeb Ahmad recently posted a message to Robert Vadra on social media, reminding him of the deep-rooted legacy of the Nehru-Gandhi family in the city. Vadra responded by expressing his intent to visit Anand Bhavan soon with his family.
Congress leaders confirm that invitations have been extended to both Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, urging them to visit Prayagraj and lead the movement from the historic city.
As political temperatures rise in the lead-up to the elections, all eyes are now on Anand Bhavan, once again ready to script a new chapter in India’s political history.
