After its crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Jan Suraaj Party has dissolved its organisational structure from the panchayat level up to the state level with immediate effect. A new organisational setup will be created over the next one-and-a-half months.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s National Council held on Saturday in Patna in the presence of party founder Prashant Kishor. The meeting was chaired by State President Manoj Bharti.
Party spokesperson Syed Masih Uddin said that the dissolved committees would continue to perform their duties until the new organisation is formed.
The party has assigned responsibility for all 12 divisions of the state to its senior leaders, who will rebuild an effective and active organisational structure from scratch in the districts under their jurisdiction.
This team will also hold extensive discussions to identify the reasons for the election defeat and will submit a report to the party leadership on leaders found guilty of indiscipline or internal sabotage.
A general body meeting has been convened in Patna on 21 December. At this meeting, the top leadership will hear detailed accounts from key district leaders regarding the elections and organisational issues, followed by in-depth deliberations on preparing a revised roadmap for the future.
