Rumblings of discontent in the Karnataka Congress have shot to the fore as power struggle brews with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar being at the center of the controversy.

The rift between the two leaders has sparked debates about potential leadership changes, raising questions about the stability of the Congress government in Karnataka. With the two leaders being key figures in the state Congress, their differences have created uncertainty about the future of the government.

The issue reached a feverish pitch when both the state Congress stalwarts rushed to New Delhi this week fueling speculations that the two have been asked by the high command to resolve the issue after meeting top party leadership.

However, Siddaramaiah dismissed leadership change rumours, saying there’s “no vacancy” for the CM post. He rejected the 2.5-year power-sharing formula, confirming he’ll complete the full 5-year term and lead the party in the next election. Speaking to media persons, he further claimed that “Shivakumar has himself said there is no vacancy”.

He also ruled out the speculations that Rahul Gandhi has asked both of them to come and meet him.”It is not true. Rahulji has not invited us to meet and discuss this issue,” Siddaramaiah said.

Nonetheless, rumours about a possible leadership change have been circulating, with some speculating that Siddaramaiah’s position might be under threat.

However, the internal rift of the Congress party could potentially impact the government’s functioning and decision-making process. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the party will navigate these challenges and maintain stability in the state.

The outcome of this power struggle will likely have significant implications for the Congress party in Karnataka. Will Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar be able to resolve their differences, or will the party face further turmoil, the rumblings will continue to hog media attention until sorted out.
