Police to probe professional rivalry angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death: Maharashtra HM

Even as actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s alleged suicide is being investigated by Mumbai Police, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said on Monday that police will further probe the ‘professional rivalry‘ angle which led to ‘clinical depression’ causing his death.

Deshmukh took to Twitter and said,”there are media reports that he allegedly suffered from clinical depression because of professional rivalry. Mumbai Police will probe this angle too.”

The actor had reportedly committed suicide at his residence in Mumbai on Sunday.  According to the postmortem report of the actor which was conducted at Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital, the actor suffered asphyxia due to hanging. No suicide note was found at his house.

His death has sparked the nepotism debate in Bollywood, even as his friends and fans are still under shock and grieving his death.  Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, Kangana Ranaut, Vivek Oberoi, Manoj Bajpai and Raveena Tandon among others have spoken against the the “Bollywood privilege club”.

Late actor’ s family members had also asked for probe the reasons hurtling him to resort to the ultimate step.

“He was under pressure…a 33-year-old was at his peak and was a threat to rivals. Our call for a probe has been accepted by the Maharashtra government,” Sushant Singh Rajput’s cousin Neeraj Bablu, an MLA in Bihar, was quoted by NDTV as saying.

Bollywood actor had given outstanding performance in movies like MS Dhoni, Chhichhore, Kedarnath, PK, Kai Po Che, Shuddh Desi Romance and many others.
