The Rajasthan High Court on Monday granted bail to former State Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Ramu Ram Raika and 22 other accused in the infamous Police SI Recruitment Exam 2021 paper leak case.
The single bench of Justice Ashok Kumar Jain delivered the judgment in the bail petition of 52 petitioners, accepting pleas of 23 accused while denying bail to 29 others.
Justice Jain had concluded the hearing in the petition on August 19 and had reserved the order that was delivered in open court today.
The accused who were given bail are either those who were behind the bars for more than one year, or women, or those with some other specific condition.
The kingpin and several members of paper leak gangs are among 29 others whose bail pleas were dismissed by the court.
Notably, the high court on Thursday last week had cancelled the paper leak-tainted recruitment examination 2021 and related processes, including the selection and postings of sub-inspectors on the basis of the exam.
As many as 859 successful examinees were inducted as police sub-inspectors in the government service based on the examination. The kin, relatives, and some outfits were holding demonstrations opposing the move of cancellation of their appointment in the service.
