Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed his “dear friend” French President Emmanuel Macron to India. Macron landed in Mumbai around midnight on a three-day India visit.
The French president was received by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Mumbai airport.
In a social media post on X, Modi said that the visit will advance India-France bilateral relations to a new height, expressing confidence that their discussions will strengthen cooperation and contribute to global progress.
“Welcome to India! India looks forward to your visit and to advancing our bilateral ties to new heights. I am confident that our discussions will further strengthen cooperation across sectors and contribute to global progress. See you in Mumbai and later in Delhi, my dear friend @EmmanuelMacron,” Modi said on X.
PM Modi and Macron are scheduled to hold a delegation-level bilateral meeting in Mumbai later today.
The two leaders will hold wide-ranging discussions under the Horizon 2047 Roadmap and launch Year of Innovation 2026. The new Rafale deal is likely to remain in focus during the talks.
The leaders will also discuss regional and global issues, including cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, reflecting a growing strategic convergence.
After completing his engagements in Mumbai, Macron will travel to Delhi to attend the India AI Impact Summit, which is being held from February 16-20 at Bharat Mandapam centre in New Delhi.
