Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday praised a garba performance by visually-challenged girls to a song penned by him.

Sharing the video of the song, posted by ANI, the PM said he was “touched” to see the performance of the girls from Ahmedabad’s Andh Kanya Prakash Gruh.

“Touched to see this. The spirit of this garba has been brought to life by these daughters! Hope everyone’s having a blessed Navratri,” Modi said in a tweet with the video.

Garba is the traditional dance of Gujarat and is especially performed during the Navratri festival. Traditional garba is distinct from dandiya, which is usually performed by men and involves drum sticks. But modern garba, however, incorporates elements of dandiya.

The song on which the girls danced is titled “Ghume Aeno Garbo”. It was written by Modi in Gujarati in 2012, when he was the Chief Minister of the state.
