Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar and West Bengal on August 22, a release from his office said on Wednesday. The visit assumes significance in the backdrop of the upcoming state assembly polls in Bihar and subsequently in West Bengal.
During his visit, Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth over Rs 18,000 crore.
In Bihar, he will inaugurate the 8.15 km long Aunta-Simaria bridge project on NH-31, including a 1.86 km long 6-lane bridge on the River Ganga, constructed at a cost of over Rs 1,870 crore. He will inaugurate the state-of-the-art Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre at Muzaffarpur, providing advanced and affordable cancer care to patients in Bihar and neighboring states.
The Prime Minister will flag off two trains — Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi, and the Buddhist Circuit Train between Vaishali and Koderma — boosting tourism and connectivity in the region.
In West Bengal, PM Modi will inaugurate metro railway projects in Kolkata, including a 13.61 km long newly constructed metro network, and flag off metro services on the Noapara-Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Sealdah-Esplanade, and Beleghata-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay routes.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the 7.2 km long six-lane elevated Kona Expressway worth over Rs 1,200 crore, enhancing connectivity between Howrah, surrounding rural areas, and Kolkata.
The visit is expected to give a significant boost to development projects in both states, potentially influencing the outcome of the upcoming assembly polls. With a focus on connectivity, power, health, and urban development, PM Modi’s visit aims to address the infrastructure needs of the region and improve the quality of life for its residents.
