Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a flagship scheme of the Bihar government, on Friday, September 26, at 11 AM via video conferencing. During the programme, PM Modi will directly transfer Rs 10,000 each into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across Bihar, totaling Rs 7,500 crore, a release from his office said.
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana aims to promote women’s empowerment and self-reliance by providing financial assistance to one woman from each family in the state. The scheme will enable women to start employment or livelihood activities of their choice, fostering economic independence and social empowerment.
Each beneficiary will receive an initial grant of Rs 10,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer. Beneficiaries may receive additional financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh in subsequent phases, based on their progress.
The scheme will be community-driven, with community resource persons connected to Self Help Groups providing training to support beneficiaries. The government plans to further develop Gramin Haat-Bazaars to support the sale of products made by women entrepreneurs.
The Yojana is expected to generate large-scale employment, improve household income, elevate living standards, and curb migration by offering local opportunities to women. Over 1 crore women are expected to witness the programme, which will feature a statewide event across multiple administrative levels.
