PM Modi to inaugurate projects worth Rs 13,430-cr in Andhra Pradesh on Oct 16

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, 16 October, to inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects valued at approximately Rs 13,430 crore, his office said in a release on Tuesday.

The projects, spanning key sectors such as industry, power transmission, roads, railways, defence manufacturing, and petroleum and natural gas, underscore the government’s commitment to accelerating regional infrastructure development and inclusive growth.

The Prime Minister’s day-long visit will commence at Srisailam in Nandyal district, where he is scheduled to perform Pooja and Darshan at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam temple at around 11:15 AM. This temple uniquely hosts both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth, making it one of the country’s most significant spiritual sites.

At around 12:15 PM, the Prime Minister will visit the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra in Srisailam, a memorial complex commemorating the historic 1677 visit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Kendra features a meditation hall with models of four iconic forts and a central statue of Shivaji Maharaj in deep meditation.

Around 2:30 PM, PM Modi will proceed to Kurnool to inaugurate and dedicate various development projects worth Rs 13,430 crore. The initiatives include:

Power Transmission: Laying the foundation stone for the Transmission System Strengthening at Kurnool-III Pooling Station with an investment of over Rs 2,880 crore. This includes a 765 KV double-circuit transmission line that will significantly boost renewable energy transmission capacity.

Industrial Development: Foundation stones for Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool and Kopparthy Industrial Area in Kadapa, with combined investments exceeding Rs 4,920 crore. These modern industrial hubs are expected to attract Rs 21,000 crore in investments and generate about one lakh jobs, enhancing Andhra Pradesh’s industrial competitiveness.

Road Infrastructure: Laying the foundation for the six-lane Greenfield Highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar (Rs 960 crore), along with inaugurating six other road projects worth Rs 1,140 crore. These will improve safety, ease congestion, and boost connectivity across the state.

Railways: Foundation stones for the Kottavalasa-Vizianagaram Fourth Railway Line and a rail flyover, and dedication of doubling projects for key sections at a combined cost of over Rs 1,200 crore. These will enhance passenger and freight movement, supporting trade and tourism.

Energy Sector: Dedication of the Srikakulam–Angul Natural Gas Pipeline by GAIL (Rs 1,730 crore) and inauguration of Indian Oil’s 60 TMTPA LPG bottling plant at Chittoor (Rs 200 crore), serving over 7.2 lakh consumers across multiple states.

Defence Manufacturing: Dedication of Bharat Electronics Limited’s Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru, Krishna district (Rs 360 crore), which will manufacture advanced electro-optical systems for the Indian Defence Forces, promoting self-reliance and local employment.

The Prime Minister will also address a public gathering in Kurnool, highlighting the government’s vision for Andhra Pradesh’s growth and development.
