At the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s growing leadership in technology and innovation on Monday.

PM Modi said, “Today, AI (Artificial Intelligence) is being used everywhere, from retail to logistics, from customer service to children’s homework.”

He added, “Today, India is shaping the global framework for ethical and human-centric AI. Our upcoming AI governance framework will be a major step in this direction. Its aim is to develop innovation and safety together.”

The PM announced that over ₹10,000 crore is being invested in the India AI Mission and said India is shaping the global framework for ethical and human-centric AI, with an AI governance framework to be unveiled soon.

PM Modi also lauded the rising participation of women in STEM, noting a jump from fewer than 100 to over 5,000 annual patent filings by women.

Emphasising India’s transformation from a technology consumer to a global pioneer, he cited the country’s success in developing indigenous COVID vaccines and digital infrastructure. The Prime Minister also congratulated ISRO scientists on the successful launch of India’s heaviest communication satellite yesterday.

PM Modi stated that when someone asks me, “Do girls in India pursue science and technology? When I told him about such numbers, he was shocked. This is what the daughters of India have achieved. These statistics show how rapidly women in India are progressing in the field of science and technology.”

At the ESTIC 2025, PM Modi further said, “Yesterday, India also hoisted the flag in the world of science and technology. Yesterday, Indian scientists successfully launched India’s heaviest communication satellite. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the scientists involved in this mission, including ISRO.”

Today is also a big day in the world of science and technology, he stated. In the twenty-first century, there was a great need for experts from around the world to come together to brainstorm on emerging science, technology, and innovation, and to show direction together, he further stated. This need gave birth to an idea. And from this idea, the vision of this conclave was formed, he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ESTIC 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, at around 9:30 am. The Prime Minister also addressed the gathering on the occasion.

In a major boost to the country’s R&D ecosystem, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the ₹1 Lakh Crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund, a PMO statement said. The scheme aims to promote a private-sector–driven research and development ecosystem in the country.

ESTIC 2025 is being held from 3–5 November 2025.

The conclave has brought together over 3,000 participants from academia, research institutions, industry and government, along with Nobel Laureates, eminent scientists, innovators and policymakers.

Deliberations will focus on 11 key thematic areas, including Advanced Materials & Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Bio-Manufacturing, Blue Economy, Digital Communications, Electronics & Semiconductor Manufacturing, Emerging Agriculture Technologies, Energy, Environment & Climate, Health & Medical Technologies, Quantum Science & Technology, and Space Technologies.
