PM Modi thanks Zelenskyy for Independence Day greetings, vows stronger India-Ukraine ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his gratitude to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his warm greetings. In a gesture of goodwill and diplomacy, PM Modi emphasized the joint commitment to strengthening ties between India and Ukraine.

“I deeply value the joint commitment to forging even closer ties between India and Ukraine,” PM Modi said in a message shared on platform X. “We earnestly wish our friends in Ukraine a future marked by peace, progress, and prosperity,” he added.

Zelenskyy had Friday, through a social media message, extended warm greetings to the people in India on the occasion of the country’s celebration of its 79th Independence Day.

“Congratulations to the people of India, President @rashtrapatibhvn, and Prime Minister @narendramodi on the Independence Day! A good, candid conversation with Prime Minister @narendramodi when I had an opportunity to personally convey my best wishes on this occasion,” Zelenskyy had said in a post on handle X.

The exchange of greetings reflects the growing diplomatic engagement between the two nations, with both countries seeking to enhance their bilateral relations. India’s stance on the Ukraine-Russia conflict has been one of peace and dialogue, with PM Modi consistently calling for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

India and Ukraine have been working to strengthen their bilateral ties in various sectors, including trade, defense, and culture. The two countries have signed several agreements to enhance cooperation in areas such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and information technology.
