PM Modi, Texas Governor Greg Abbott agree to strengthen ties

Governor of US state of Texas, Greg Abbott on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here in the national capital as the duo agreed to further strengthen ties between India and the southern American state.

According to an official statement, Modi noted the strong growth in India-US strategic partnership and underscored the importance of growing linkages with Texas in the fields of trade and commerce, energy, industry, education and people-to-people contact.

“The two dignitaries agreed to further strengthen these ties,” said the official.

The Republican governor called it a “historic meeting.”

Abbott, who is currently on a trade mission to India, appreciated the contribution of people of Indian origin living in Texas to his state and to the United States of America.
