Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday, drew attention to a thoughtful piece by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that traces the historic journey of India’s Constitution and its pivotal role in realising the vision of a self‑reliant, developed nation — Viksit Bharat — by 2047.

In a post shared from the official PMO India handle — “PMO India@PMOIndia — PM Modi highlights a write‑up by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla” — the Prime Minister underscored the Speaker’s reflections on how the Constituent Assembly shaped a document that embodies “the fire and spirit of our freedom struggle” and the “depth of understanding of our nation’s history and ethos among the Constitution‑makers.”

“In this insightful article, Honourable Lok Sabha Speaker Shri @ombirlakota reflects on the journey of our nation’s Constitution, shaped by the Constituent Assembly and enriched by the aspirations of crores of Indians,” PM Modi said. “He highlights that the Constitution serves as an ideal guide to take India forward as an Aatmanirbhar and self‑confident Viksit Bharat_ by 2047.”

Speaker Om Birla, in his own words, posted from his handle @ombirlakota, remarked: “The Constitution of India embodies the fire and spirit of our freedom struggle and the depth of understanding of our nation’s history and ethos among our Constitution‑makers. I paid my respects to the framers of our Constitution and our founding fathers for guiding its historical journey and shaping its enduring legacy.”

The write‑up was part of Constitution Day celebrations held at the historic Central Hall of the Old Parliament building — now called ‘Samvidhan Sadan’ — where President Droupadi Murmu and other dignitaries also participated. The event highlighted the Constitution as a “live document” that guarantees justice, equality, fraternity and dignity for every citizen, and reaffirmed the commitment to uphold its ideals as India marches toward becoming a developed nation in the next two decades.

Constitution Day, observed annually on November 26 since 2015, commemorates the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. This year’s celebrations were themed “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman” (“Our Constitution, Our Pride”), with various programmes emphasising citizens’ duties alongside rights.

The Prime Minister’s remarks linking Birla’s article to national aspirations were widely circulated on social media, reinforcing the government’s narrative that adherence to constitutional values is central to achieving the ambitious “Viksit Bharat” goal by 2047.
