Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday expressed his outrage and pain over a viral video showing alleged abuses directed at his late mother during a recent Congress-RJD rally in Bihar.
Speaking via video conferencing while inaugurating an event in Bihar, PM Modi said, “A mother is our entire world… a mother is our pride. I never could have imagined what happened a few days ago in Bihar, a state with such a rich tradition. On the RJD-Congress platform in Bihar, my mother was abused… this abuse is not just an insult to my mother, but to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of this country.”
The incident has sparked a heated debate, with BJP leaders strongly condemning the alleged abuses. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said, “After promoting those who insult Bihar, using such language against the late mother of the prime minister out of personal anger and hatred is proof of the hollow mentality and extreme despair of these leaders and parties.” Union Minister and BJP President JP Nadda also slammed the Congress, stating that Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav should immediately apologise for this “heinous act.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Mohd Naushad, who had allegedly made the abusive slur, has since apologised for the remarks, suggesting that the opposition may have been behind the incident. “I strongly condemn it, and I apologise for it. It’s also possible that this was done by someone from the opposition or by people with vested interests,” he said. However, the BJP has demanded a clear apology from Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, with BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra stating that the Congress party has now turned into an abusive party.
The controversy surrounds a viral video from Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, where alleged abuses were directed at PM Modi’s late mother. The incident has triggered a political slugfest between the BJP and Congress, with the BJP demanding action against those responsible.
