Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the people of Bihar have made up their minds to bring back the NDA government, promising a new phase of development and good governance in the state.

Speaking at a public rally in Samastipur, he said the atmosphere in Mithila clearly shows that Bihar will once again vote for progress and reject the “jungle raj” of the opposition.

“The grand festival of democracy has begun. Bihar is saying, once again an NDA government, once again a good governance government,” Modi said, adding that the people’s enthusiasm even during the festive season shows their support for the NDA.

Before the rally, Modi visited Karpoori Gram to pay tribute to Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, calling him a true champion of social justice. “It is because of the blessings of leaders like him that people like us, from poor and backward families, can stand on this stage today,” he said.

He credited Thakur for his role in empowering the poor and backward communities and said the NDA government had the honour of awarding him the Bharat Ratna. “Our government draws inspiration from him, to give priority to the deprived, preference to the backward, and service to the poor,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister highlighted that his government has worked for the poor, Dalits, Mahadalits, backward and extremely backward classes. He also reminded people that the BJP-led government gave 10% reservation to the poor in the general category and extended the reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for another 10 years.

Taking a sharp dig at the RJD and the Congress, Modi said their leaders were facing corruption charges. “These are people out on bail in scams worth thousands of crores. Their habit of theft is such that now they are trying to steal even the title of Jananayak,” he said, adding that the people of Bihar will not tolerate any insult to Karpoori Thakur’s legacy.

Modi expressed confidence that under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership, the NDA will win with a historic mandate. “This time, Bihar will break all previous records and give the NDA its biggest victory ever,” he said.

Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Bihar on 6 November and 11 November 2025 to elect the 243 members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 14 November 2025
