Reflecting on the collective emotions of the people following India’s victory in the Under-19 World Cup, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the voices who are heaping praises on the young ‘Boys in Blue’.
Addressing a massive turnout of supporters from all over Karnataka at the Parade Ground in Bengaluru on Sunday, 4 February, PM Modi extolled the enterprising people of Karnataka.
“The people of Karnataka are helping speed up the growth of the nation and the nation’s pride,” the PM said amid loud cheers from the supporters.

He then praised Indian U-19 coach Rahul Dravid, whose inspiring leadership encouraged the young team to lift the World Cup by beating Australia at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.
Wearing a beige-coloured kurta and a light blue check vest, PM Modi told the gathering, which included farmers, IT professionals and other citizens from the state, that the whole nation is celebrating the victory of the Under-19 team.
“Besides the players, the victory is also due to the efforts of Rahul Dravid – a son of this state,” the PM said.
India beat Australia by 8 wickets on Saturday, 3 February. Australia had posted a target of 217 runs, which the ‘Boys in Blue’ comfortably chased down.
From the Indian side, skipper Prithvi Shaw and opener Manjot Kalra gave the team a steady start by putting up a partnership of 71 runs for the first wicket.
