Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre on Monday held bilateral and delegation-level talks in Oslo.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Sibi George also joined PM Modi during the delegation-level talks.
The Norwegian delegation included Minister of Health and Care Services Jan Christian Vestre and Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide.
The two sides held extensive talks on several issues of mutual interest and agreed to elevate India-Norway relations to a Green Strategic Partnership, marking a milestone in advancing collaboration in the areas of clean energy, blue economy and green transition.
The two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of the India-Norway relationship and agreed to strengthen it further in the areas of trade & investment, blue economy, circular economy, renewable energy, education, science & technology, AI, space and the Arctic.
Both leaders noted the immense opportunities arising from the India-EFTA Trade & Economic Partnership Agreement especially in trade, technology collaboration and job creation.
Earlier today, PM Modi also held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Støre.
The PM is in Norway as part of the fourth leg of his five-nation tour. Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Nordic nation in over four decades.
He was scheduled to visit the country last year but the trip was postponed due to the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
He arrived in Oslo after concluding his visits to the UAE, the Netherlands and Sweden.
According to PM Modi’s Norway trip itinerary, he will take part in the third India-Nordic Summit and also call on King Harald V and Queen Sonja.
