Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday host a special dinner for all National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs at his official residence in New Delhi. The key post-Bihar Assembly Election victory interaction is reportedly aimed at reinforcing the alliance’s political direction and reviewing the government’s agenda for the ongoing Parliament session.
The dinner, earlier planned during the previous session, had been postponed due to the floods in Punjab. This gathering now comes at a strategically sensitive moment, with the government focusing on legislative priorities and the alliance preparing for Assembly Elections in Assam, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu.
Coordination efforts underway across regions
News agency IANS has mentioned sources as saying that all NDA MPs are expected to attend the dinner. Senior Union ministers have been tasked with coordinating with MPs from their regions to ensure a smooth gathering.
So, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is handling arrangements for Odisha, while BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju are looking after coordination for MPs from West Bengal and the Northeastern states, respectively.
Around 54 tables have been set up for the event, each accommodating eight MPs from both the BJP and alliance partners. A Union Minister will be seated at every table, and the Prime Minister is expected to interact with MPs across all sections during the evening.
Focus on governance and Parliament agenda
Earlier this week, the Prime Minister briefed NDA MPs on the government’s roadmap, with a focus on welfare and governance. More guidance is expected during the dinner, which has been planned as a space for open discussion between alliance partners.
Reports suggest that the meeting will also allow the Prime Minister to review legislative priorities and discuss the broader agenda for the ongoing Parliament session.
Discussions on upcoming state elections
Reports suggest that the talks on Thursday are likely to include initial discussions regarding the upcoming Assembly Elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam. Leaders from coalition parties are expected to assess their plans and fine-tune their strategies ahead of these elections.
Senior ministers, floor leaders and MPs from all NDA parties are expected to attend the dinner.
