PM Modi meets astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, says ‘India is proud of his feat’


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Group Captain (IAF) Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, who was the pilot of Axiom-4 Space Mission to the International Space Station (ISS), at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence in Delhi.

Modi said he discussed Shukla’s experience in space, progress in science and technology and the ambitious Gaganyaan mission.

“Had a great interaction with Shubhanshu Shukla. We discussed a wide range of subjects including his experiences in space, progress in science & technology as well as India’s ambitious Gaganyaan mission. India is proud of his feat,” Modi said on X.

During the meeting, Shukla presented Axiom-4 mission patch and photos of the Earth taken fron the ISS to PM Modi.

Astronaut Group Captain (IAF) Shubhanshu Shukla arrived at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in the national capital to a rousing welcome on Sunday.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan, along with others, received him at the airport on his return to the country after his historic journey from space.
