PM Modi, Mamata Banerjee wish Capt Amarinder on his birthday

Indian politicians cutting across party lines on Sunday wished Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on his 76th birthday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Captain Amarinder Singh on his 76th birthday and prayed “for his long and healthy life”.

The Prime Minister in a tweet said; “Birthday greetings to Punjab CM @capt_amarinder Ji. I pray for his long and healthy life “.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banrejee also took to Twitter to wished the Punjab CM.

Punjab CM Amarinder replied to Mamata Banerjee in a tweet, thanking her for the “kind wishes”.

 

 

 

Congress Party leader and Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Rajeev Shukla also wished Capt Amarinder a “happy, healthy and long life” on his birthday.

Senior Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh is the 26th Chief Minister of Punjab.

He is an elected Member of the Legislative Assembly from Patiala and has also previously served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2002-2007.

Born on 11 March 1942, Amarinder Singh is the son of Maharaja Yadavindra Singh and Maharani Mohinder Kaur of Patiala belonging to the Phulkian dynasty of Sidhu Brar descent.  His father was the last Maharaja of the princely state of Patiala.

Prior to his journey in politics, he had served in the Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army from 1963 to 1966.

He is also a celebrated author and has written multiple books on Indian Army, war and Sikh history.
