PM Modi launches Rs 18,000 crore Delhi Metro expansion on Women’s Day, slams ‘Aap-da’ model of ‘less work, more excuses’

In a gift to the women on International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a Rs 18,000 crore expansion of the Delhi Metro.

PM Modi inaugurated two new corridors of the Delhi Metro and laid the foundation stone for three new corridors under Phase V(A).

The newly inaugurated metro routes are – Majlis Park to Maujpur (12 km) and Majlis Park to Deepali Chowk (9 km).

These projects are set to strengthen connectivity across the capital, making travel safer, faster and more convenient for millions of residents.

Areas in Trans-Yamuna such as Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Karawal Nagar have recieved Metro connectivity for the first time.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Modi said that Delhi’s development is linked to the image of the entire country.

“Therefore, I am very pleased to see the rapid expansion of infrastructure here along with metro facilities,” he said.

He also slammed the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, saying they worked less and made more excuses.

The way of those in power was—less work, more excuses. Today, Delhi’s model of development is—excuses stopped, work started.

“‘Aap’-da people had a style — less work, more excuses. Today, Delhi has a model of development — excuses are over, work has begun,” he added.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta thanked the Prime Minister, calling the expansion a “huge gift” for the safety of women.

She stated that the Prime Minister presenting such an important gift to the people of Delhi, particularly women, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, was highly significant.

PM Modi also handed over Ayushman cards and Swanidhi credit cards to Nari Shakti in New Delhi. He called it “an important step towards their health security and economic empowerment.”
