Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met at the Hyderabad House on Saturday during which they discussed a range of issues related to bilateral ties, including the progress of India-assisted development projects in the island nation.

The meeting was held on the third and final day of the Sri Lankan Prime Minister’s India visit.

“Special place in our hearts for Sri Lanka. PM Narendra Modi welcomes the Sri Lankan PM Ranil Wickremesinghe. At the delegation level talks, the leaders took stock of the entire range of our bilateral relations, specially the development projects in Sri Lanka,” Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted along with pictures of the two leaders at the Hyderabad House.

The two sides reviewed the status of the India-assisted housing projects in Jaffna.

Earlier in the day, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also separately called on the visiting Lankan leader.

Wickremesinghe and Singh discussed issues related to security and anti-terror cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.

Wickremesinghe had on Friday met Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

During their talks, the leaders discussed India-Sri Lanka relations in the light of their historic and cultural closeness.

The Sri Lankan PM arrived on Thursday on a three-day official visit.

The Sri Lankan Prime Minister’s visit came two days after Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid reports quoting him telling his Cabinet that Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was plotting his assassination.
