PM Modi inaugurates Bangalore metro yellow line, 3 new Vande Bharat Express trains in Bengaluru


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the yellow line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra of the Bangalore metro Phase-2 project.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy DK Shivakumar and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also accomapnied the PM during the Bangalore metro yellow line flag off event.

The yellow line, spanning 19.15 km with 16 stations, will connect RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra and is expected to ease traffic congestion on busy routes like Hosur Road and Silk Board Junction.

The Yellow line metro project, worth around Rs 7,160 crore, will increase the operational metro network in Bengaluru to over 96 km, serving a large population in the region, a government release said.

Prime Minister Modi, along with Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Dy CM DK Shivakumar, and Union Minister Khattar, also undertook a metro ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Electronic City metro station via the Yellow line.

Earlier in the day, Modi also flagged off 3 Vande Bharat Express trains at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru. It includes trains from Bengaluru to Belagavi, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Amritsar and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune.
