Lok Sabha Election 2024, Phase 1: Voting on 102 seats underway
In the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, as many as 102 constituencies spanning across 21 states and Union Territories will elect their new MPs.
As campaigning reaches a crescendo in poll-bound Nagaland and Meghalaya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday address election rallies in both the northeastern states.
In Nagaland, Modi will address a rally at Tuensang district, about 360 km from state capital Kohima having six assembly seats.
The BJP has fielded candidates on four seats while its ally Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) nominees are in the fray on the remaining two constituencies.

Modi will then head to Meghalaya to address a rally in West Garo Hills district, considered as a Congress bastion since 1972.
The BJP has fielded candidates on 47 seats out of a total of 60 in Meghalaya.
Both Meghalaya and Nagaland will go to polls on February 27.
The BJP is looking to expand its presence in the northeastern states as it is already in power in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
In a tweet posted on Wednesday night, Modi had said: “Will be travelling to the Northeast tomorrow (Thursday). In the morning, will campaign in Tuensang, Nagaland. In the afternoon, will address a public meeting in Phulbari, Meghalaya.”
