Before sunrise on Sunday, the riverbank in Davanagere turned into a glowing sea of light as the Shri Patanjali Yog Shiksha Samiti hosted a Karthik Yog Deepotsav near the Tunga Bhadra Aarti Mandap behind the Raghavendra Swamy Math.

The festival began at 4 am, when the cool morning air mixed with the warm shine of hundreds of tiny lamps.

One by one, the diyas were lit and gently released into the flowing river. This created a magical view that looked almost unreal. After this peaceful moment, the crowd gathered for Agnihotra. There the participants filled the space with chants and the crackling sound of sacred fire.

The event saw active participation from the committee’s branches across Davanagere and nearby areas. Around 95 men and 120 women took part in early-morning yoga practice as the sky slowly turned from dark blue to gold.

Later, during a special meditation session, speakers highlighted how yoga brings spiritual strength, mental calmness, and physical balance. They encouraged everyone to make yoga a daily habit rather than a once-a-year ritual.

Regional coordinator Kotyan Harishanna, coordinator Satishanna, women’s coordinator Manjulakka, vice-president Kalleshanna, chief teacher Veerabhadranna and many yoga instructors were present and led the gathering with devotion.
